This short 16mm film was shot in one long take of 9 minutes with a steadycam. (This might be a small record in worldwide filmmaking.) 11:59 brings to life 9 nervous minutes in the life of Khalid, a young Dutch-Moroccan man living in Amsterdam, who makes a decision at 11:50am one day to go back to school one more time for an encounter that will change his life forever. The film is inspired by all the recent negative media-attention for young Arabic people in the Dutch and European media and challenges popular perception. It also shows how long a short film can be.
